Lucky represents how we do things. Emerald founder Marty Sheehan has always told our team to “be like a duck on the water” — looking calm and graceful on the surface while working furiously underneath. It’s a simple idea, but it shapes everything about the way we show up for our customers.

The Duck Story

Emerald Heating & Cooling was founded in 2000 by Marty and Carrie Sheehan — two people with a simple belief that Western New York homeowners deserved a heating and cooling company that actually worked as hard as they did

In the beginning, it was just the two of them. Marty drove the truck and handled the repairs. Carrie kept everything else running — the calls, the scheduling, the books, and everything in between. It wasn’t glamorous, but it was honest work done with real pride, and their customers felt the difference.

Slowly but surely, Emerald grew. They bought a building and renovated it themselves, piece by piece. They brought on new team members — people they called Top Ducks — who shared their belief in the value of a full day of hard work and treating every customer like a neighbor. Today, Carrie, Marty, and the entire Emerald team continue to serve families all across Western New York, keeping them warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and comfortable year-round.

We’re grateful for every member of our flock. And we’re just as excited about the next 25 years as we were about the first.
